IEPs
Some students in the Root Blended Preschool have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to target their individual needs. Children are evaluated and placed at Root by the Wake County Office of Early Learning with an IEP that is geared specifically to meet the needs of the child. At Root, IEPS are worked on through a variety of play to create meaningful experiences in the children's natural preschool environment. Each quarter, parents receive a progress report that highlights the progress of the child's individual goals. Each year an Annual Review is conducted and the team reconvenes to discuss each goal as well as create new ones for the next year. An IEP is a fluid document and can be adjusted at any time. If you have questions or concerns about your child's IEP please contact Sarah Catherine.
Related Services
Related services are provided based upon the child's IEP. Most often services are provided as "Push-In" services meaning that our related service providers work with the children in the classroom to provide meaningful therapy. The Root team works together closely and strategies are shared between teachers and therapist provide as many experiences for them as possible even when service providers are not in the classroom. When your child receives services, you will be notified on their daily sheet.
